News

Wanderers Pre-Christmas Training Schedule
 
In response to the majority of the Senior playing group saying “we need to get fit” the Strength & Conditioning Trainers Dasha Jenkins and Adam Trypas have formulated a Pre-Christmas Gym and Fitness training program.
 
It is expected that all players wanting to play 1st grade, 2nd grade or Colts in 2012 will start the program next week.
 
Gym
 
The gym component consists of the following 3 programs depending on your needs:
 
·         Program 1 - New to gym
·         Program 2 – Aimed at putting on size
·         Program 3 – Aimed at strength
 
There is also a Fat Burner ‘Tabata’ program for those who need some extra work at the end of the gym session to strip some weight!
 
The programs are attached.
 
If you do not currently have a gym membership Wanderers has a $2/session agreement with Planet Fitness at Broadmeadow. Before using the gym the players must:
 
1.    Each Playing Member must identify themselves as a Wanderer at the first visit to Planet Fitness and complete and sign a membership form. Planet Fitness have a list of all Wanderers 2011 members
2.    The Club Gym administration will validate the Playing Member name against the club provided list of Playing Members and provide them with an individual gym access pass.
3.    Each entry to the gym will require a Playing Member to show their Club gym access pass and pay $2.00 at the reception counter.
 
If you are unsure about how to do the listed exercises the easiest thing to do is do a search on YouTube.
 
It will be up to YOU to do this. It is recommended that you team up with one or more of your teammates.
 
Testing will be scheduled before Christmas and you will be advised of timing in the coming weeks.
 
Fitness
 
There will be 2 sessions per week for 5 weeks starting on Wednesday 23rd November.  Interested in joining the Wanderers - new players welcome to all sessions.
 
Wednesday’s will be at King Edward Park (meeting at the Rotunda at 6pm). 
 
Saturday mornings will begin at Empire Park (8am for a warm-up game of touch and 8:45am to begin training)
 
There will be 1 “Special” Friday afternoon session on Friday 9th December.

The location will be advised closer to the date.

Skill Assessment
 

1st Grade Coach Ellis Meachen will be undertaking a
 
skills assessment on Saturday 26th November at
 
Empire Park starting at 8:45am.

It is requested that all players attend.
