girls rugby (U13 - U17)
Girls rugby is the fastest growing area of our game and we want you to join in!
Our Girls Programs are new and are designed to introduce all girls, regardless of experience, to the exciting games of Sevens and Tens rugby and to provide a pathway for those girls wishing to progress to XV’s rugby.
Rugby 7s is a unique, faster, modified 15s rugby game that allows for a quick outcome finishing in just 14 minutes of play. As the name implies, there are only 7 players per team on the field at any one time. The game is fast and exciting and played by all ages and abilities.
Rugby 10s is another variant of rugby union with teams made up of ten players, typically five forwards and five backs. Matches are played as two ten-minute halves. Tens offer players of diverse skills, capabilities and different fitness levels the opportunity to play with fewer numbers but more in line with the traditional game. The more traditional scrums and lineouts are part of the game whilst the fact that there is a bit more space on the field, makes this a very popular game for all levels of players.
Wanderers is incredibly passionate about reaching a broader audience of girls and making a positive impact through rugby. We aim to support girls in reaching their potential through a safe, fun and structured environment and offer the opportunity to play rugby while learning about the positive core values of rugby and gaining life skills.
** As per the Rugby Australia Mixed Gender Policy, girls aged 10, 11 and 12 can also play mixed XV's rugby in their respective age groups. Girls aged 13 and 14 will need to fill out a RA Mixed Gender Dispensation Application to play mixed rugby in their age group.
